| I shoot 2-3 times a week, one arrow @ a time, for about an hour. I forgot to add that I vary my distance & angles from what I perceive to be roughly 10-50 yds. How do you do it?

| The best thing that every happened to my archery practice was to find two like-minded old farts and we get together every morning at 7:00 to shoot for an hour at our local range. We vary our practice between roving, which is more like Rick recommends, where we usually shoot one arrow each at a chosen pine-cone or something at unknown distances, and more formal shooting at the targets that are available there at varying known distances. My archery has benefitted by shooting every single day, shooting more arrows than I would shoot myself in my own backyard, shooting under the pressure of knowing that guys are evaluating my each and every shot, and the friendly competitiveness of wanting to shoot better than the next guy, even if you don't admit it. Sometimes guys will see something you're doing wrong, like dropping your bow arm, that you don't notice yourself, and it will save a lot of time trying to figure it out yourself. | |

| Hi dave ! I am trying to overcome my snap shooting tendencies. a practice habit I am developing to help me hold longer is to say to my self. I am going to hold for 4 seconds, then let down. rick told me to try to trick myself to hold longer. by the time I hit 3 seconds the arrow seems to be on its way and usually into the 10 ring. It seems my magical count is 2 1/2 seconds like rick teaches | |

| I shoot every day, some times one arrow at a time, sometimes three. I shoot at mainly known distances to about 50 yards,,and I know this goes against the local mantra, but I know the distance close enough the second I look at my target. Sometimes I practice specific form elements but probably not enough, sometimes I shoot swinging tennis balls at quite close range in front of hay bales just because it's fun. I like practicing from odd angles, such as back to the target and swiveled at the waist to line up with the target. Some times square on to the target rather than side on,sometimes off my knees 1 or both,,,just variation for the fun of it. Some times I spend a lot of time practicing speed shooting,,,or speed drawing and loading to be more exact. Some times I practice shooting fast at big featureless targets with no aiming spot,,,,the pop up targets we use in local 3D and longbow competition are of that type and take a lot to focus on even though their quite large. Almost everything I practice for a reason other than just fun, will be as a direct result of something that has happened during competiotion or hunting that has left me less than satisfied with my own skill level. But most of it is just fun. | |

| Just got into archery. Why one arrow at a time. Do you literally mean shoot one arrow, walk down to pull it out, and walk back and shoot it again. I have been shooting six arrows, each at a different dot on the target so as not to ruin an arrow by hitting it with another arrow aiming for the same spot. | |

Absolutely yes to 1 arrow @ a time. As Rick says you get one shot (usually) at animals, & it's the first shot that's scored in 3D competition. Also, shooting from the same position repeatedly can create the potential for developing bad habits, mental fatigue & not being aware of them. Shooting one arrow at a time, allows you to maximize your focus on one shot. As you walk to get the arrow, you may find yourself evaluating that shot, & realizing what you need to do differently on the next shot. Shooting one arrow @ a time from different distances & angles is an excellent way to develope your instinctive abilities. That time you take getting the arrow & going to another locations clears, energizes, & focuses your mind for the next shot. Does this help at all? If you don't have THE ACCURACY FACTORY dvd, Rick speaks about this in detail. It will probably make more sense coming from him than me. | |

| During the winter, I shoot Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for about one hour. Spring, summer, and fall, I shoot everyday for about one hour. I shoot only one arrow at a time at distances of 15 to 25 yards. | |
