 Where is the string in relationship to your first finger joint

PostSubject: Where is the string in relationship to your first finger joint   Tue 25 Jan 2011, 8:57 pm

Just curious as to where folks tend to hold the string. I have been playing around with trying to hold it more toward middle of the first digit with the goal of a smoother release. Am I off base, or is this relatively common?
