I've been reading a lot about FOC and wondered if there are any others on here who practice Dr Ashby's teachings ??
I'm in the process of building an Extreme FOC arrow set-up for next year's bear hunt.

For my wood arrows, I have settled on 200 grains for point weight. 200 gr is readily available, easy to work with and I can keep my total arrow weight in a reasonable range. Arrow flight and performance on game is great. I have gone higher, up to 300 gr. The arrow flight is great, but hard to keep total arrow weight below 700 gr.

I'm shooting a 32 inch carbon shaft that weighs in about 325 grains and bare shaft tests pretty good with 250 grain field tips. I'm thinking of using the 225 Tuffheads but I'd really like to keep a minimum of 600 grains total arrow weight. I'm wondering if someone makes a 50 grain adapter or insert for this. Also gonna try some turkey feathers on a couple shafts. Just 'cause I have some.

38, the Tuffheads are all glue ons, so you are going to need an adapter anyway. A long aluminum adapter is going to put you pretty close to 600 gr and there are steel and brass adapters made in several heavier weights. You should have no proplem in getting where you want to be. Good choice on the Tuffhead, it's a great boadhead.

Yes, i'm a follower of Dr. A. Double blade, single bevel, heavy weight, high FOC all the way!

Right now I'm shoot GT Velocity hunter shafts, 8.5 PGI, full length (32") with a 100 gn brass insert and 200 gn right bevel Grizzly BH.
Also, with a 2117 aluminum shaft cut at 2" and epoxied up front for footing, a total of 325 gns up front.
in the rear I install 3 right wing feathers cut in the A&A pattern, 2 3/8". Cock feather is white and hen feathers are Flo yellow.
total weight: 625gns

I'm in the process of building some 650+ gn arrows. Actually i'll be building 650, 675, 700, 725 and 750, just to see. Very Happy
because of my long draw length I have to build heavier arrows if I want extreme FOC. I want to build to the point of
diminishing returns and then work back from there.
