I shoot a 50lb @28" Hoyt Dorado recurve riser with Tradtech Carbonwood medium limbs.
That gives me a 62" bow that draws as smooth as butter and drives a 530g arrow at 180fps.

John ..I read your post on the other site and came over to say hi.

I am going to Rick's school the 19th and 20th of this month, and I can't hardly wait.

I bet it's gonna be hot. I live about 180 miles or so from where Ricks at and I don't really know about there but it skipped springtime here and went directly to summer..LOL

I shoot a Martin Damon Howatt Hunter 55# @ 28", 64" long with 29 7/8" arrows.

Currently, shooting Gold Tip 75/95's with 125 grain Satellite Titan TNT's.

Plan to move into a custom bow in the near future, and probably hunt "bow only" after that!

I am shooting a Bear Montana longow, 55# @ 28".

I also have a Great tree Deer Master recurve, 50# @ 28", but it is lefty.

Wont be long I want to go to a 30, 35, or 40 pound recurve that has lots of holes so it can double as a bowfishing rig.

My riser is a 12" ACS - my limbs are 53# and 60# @ 28" which make a 58" bow. I shoot off the shelf. I have ordered a 35# Samick Sage just for the clinic that I willl attend on May 25-26 2011.

I heard you shoot lots of arrows so I thought the real low poudage of the samick sage would give me a chance to get the form down right.

Getting ready for spring bear here in the yukon right now...grizz and blacks ON THE GROUND.....no baiting - just spot and stalk - no handguns either...the weenies in the gov here don't understand about living outside of there cities.....

Anyway nice to talk with you guys an gals....

I havent shot much since I was a kid but I now live in the woods in La and might as well kill some of the deer that are eating my peas.
I bought a bow from the local pawn shop for $80.00....an old Martin Vision 50 @28 Longbow......bought a dozen gold tips and am using 85gr
arrow points.....I'm OK but one of the guys I know has a Dakota and I went over to his place to shoot it....it's 62# Dakota recurve at 28 and it pulls easier than my bow......! I've ordered Ricks disc.....hasnt gotten here yet......but needles to say I'd like to move up to a better bow....
My Martin is noisy too.....twaaaang......!

Latest setup is a just-finished 68" Sycamore-Ash mollegabet-style longbow (made myself) 53# @ 28", shooting 29.5" spruce arrows off the knuckle. They're fletched Welch-style with cock feather down, fletch to nose at full draw, three-under deep hook style - with serving on the fletches to protect the bow hand. On the rack I have a few other bows I've made; hickory/red oak, sycamore/black cherry, ash/black cherry, as well as a 1967 Wings Chaparral recurve - that's my only glass.

I've learned on Rick's DVDs, and spent Saturday on a Winter 3D shoot with a shooting school graduate who reassured me I'm on the right track.

I'm shooting a 60" Martin/Howatt X-200. 40# @ 28". I overdraw to 30.5 inches. Never put a scale on it but I'm guessing about 45-47# real draw weight. Not sure if I'm using the proper arrows but I had some old 2117 aluminums sitting around so I fletched some 5" feathers onto them and started shooting. I'm thinking they're too stiff for this bow but until I can get some new ones, they'll have to do.

I found the arrows that match my bow and what a difference. Been shooting them for about a month now and can't put my bow down. It's just such a pleasure to shoot with a good shooting bow !
Now I'm on the hunt for a 3D course or tourny near-by.

Bob lee takedown recurve, I got a good deal off ebay by buying the riser and limbs from two different auctions. lol. it was a short riser with longer limbs, totals out to be a 58 inch bow. It is supposed to be about 57 pounds at 27 inches, but when coupled with the shorter riser and at my draw length it is about 62 pounds. a little heavy, but I am used to it now. I also shoot a mathews switchback xt. I use the same method, three under and barebow. I do use the nap centerrest. It shoots wonderfully instinctive. Kinda nice to have the speed.
